5 Super Simple Oscar Party Ideas

Award season is wrapping up and as always, it ends with the biggest, glitziest and most star studded event of them all – The Oscars, or more formally, The Academy Awards. This year, a few friends will be at my place to watch the show and I thought I’d jazz up the evening with a few fun Oscar party ideas. Nothing too complicated or over the top. Doing some research, I found 5 simple award show ideas that’ll work perfectly for me, and I bet you’ll love them, too.

Whenever I need a great idea for a party that adds the WOW factor without hitting my wallet hard or costing me tons of time, I head over to Celebrations At Home. This DIY Popcorn Bar is super simple to set up, looks like you put hours of thought and work into it (though you won’t!) and screams movie night celebration.

Most of the little props can be purchased from a local party store, or just recycled from your New Year’s Eve soiree. Check out the glitter paint detail on the popcorn scoopers!

Oscar Party Snack

If popcorn isn’t your thing, this tuxedo cheese and cracker snack is another great Oscar party food idea to try. All you need are crackers, cheese wedges (Cute Food For Kids used Laughing Cow Cheese here) and some carefully cut olives. Perfect for pairing with some bubbly, if I do say so myself.

Speaking of bubbly, it’s the Oscars, so dress up that champagne flute! It’ll add some fun flair to the mix and is so easy to do, you have no excuse. Over at The TomKat Studio, they dipped the rims of their champagne flutes in gold sugar and tied little bows around the base for a sweet and elegant look. (Side note – if you’re really looking to go all out with your Oscar Viewing Party, I HIGHLY recommend you check out the entire soiree The TomKat Studio put together for inspiration.)

Another clever idea? Just head over to Hostess With The Mostess and download her free printable wine charms. Then, cut out and tie on! That’s it.

As you watch the stars parade down the red carpet, sip your cocktail and munch on themed hors d’ouevres in style on your own. Whether you go all out or keep it low-key, a glitzy nail dresses up any outfit. Even if you’re not a DIY nail polish maven, you can pull of this look from @CindysVanity.

Let’s face it, after the red carpet Oscar night definitely slows down. You’ll need something to keep yourself and anyone you’re watching with engaged. What better way to do that than with a ballot of your own? This free printable one from Sugar and Charm does all the work for you – just print and pass out. Add more fun to the mix by handing out prizes to whoever wins a category and whoever predicts the most winners.

The Oscars air this Sunday, February 22nd and while these ideas live up to the award show’s glam, they’re easy enough to pull off in time for the weekend!
