DR. T: Seven Women On My Mind

A gynecologist with women problems?!  LOL.  Dr. Sullivan Travis (“Dr. T” to his pals) has, as the Eagles said, seven women on his mind – “four that wanna own me, two that wanna stone me, one says she’s a friend of mine…” Farrah Fawcett, Kate Hudson, Laura Dern, Shelley Long, Liv Tyler, Tara Reid, and Helen Hunt are all in the mix – but who wants what? Let me break it down.

Dr. T, played to-a-T by Richard Gere, is a wealthy Dallas doctor with the world at his fingertips (that is not a pun – get your head out of the gutter) but he can’t seem to get a grip on the women who rule his world. His wife Kate, played by Farrah, suffers a nervous breakdown. His daughter Dee Dee, played by Kate, is engaged to a man but in love with a woman, Marilyn, played by Liv. Dr. T’s younger daughter Connie, played by Tara, is on her own planet. His secretary Carolyn, played by Shelley, has unrequited love for him. His sister-in-law Peggy, played by Laura, acts like an overbearing mother, and his golf instructor Bree, played by Helen, helps him with a lot more than his swing.

I’ve seen this movie many times and my bet is that the “four that wanna own” Dr. T are his two daughters, his sweet secretary, and his wife. The two stoners have got to be his sister-in-law and his daughter’s secret girlfriend. The “friend” is the golf instructor, without a doubt… but the roles frequently flip and flop throughout the film – you have to watch for yourself and let us know in the comments who you think is who!
