Times Square played host to the stars last night as Tom Cruise unveiled his latest blockbuster, Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. It was quite a scene to say the least. Thousands of fans stood outside for hours to take selfies and get autographs from the cast and crew. Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin and director Christopher McQuarrie all took the time to give the fans a warm welcome.
Cruise dished about how this film really ups the bar and pushes the limits of the franchise. He also talked about the now famous “plane stunt:”
One thing that surprised me was that Cruise doesn’t wear any padding nor a helmet when performing the motorcycle stunts. He didn’t shy away from any question, announcing that he’s broken his nose, fingers and ankles; but, he’s never broken a bone on the set of a movie. He’s never missed a day of work.
The vibe at the premiere was exciting. You could feel the adrenaline pumping. But that didn’t stop the cast from having a little fun. Cruise and Pegg shared a moment when Cruise tried to imitate Pegg’s English accent.
Not to mention Cruise and Renner got into some fisticuffs.
Director Christopher McQuarrie spoke about joining such a huge franchise. He revealed Cruise’s insane work ethic. How Cruise would work around the clock, and still be the first one on set the next morning off barely any sleep. McQuarrie previously directed Cruise in Jack Reacher.
All in all, for a city that never sleeps, the stars were shining pretty bright last night.
